Rotary Club Chandigarh Uptown Hosts Inspiring Orientation Program for New Rotarians, Welcomes Dr. Nitya Prakash
Chandigarh, August 21, 2024 – Rotary Club Chandigarh Uptown held its 104th meeting at Hotel Pearl, Industrial Area Phase 2, with a significant milestone as the club successfully hosted an Orientation Program for new Rotarians from Zone-7 and the Tricity. More than 50 Rotarians participated in this important event, reinforcing their understanding of Rotary’s mission and values.
The evening commenced with a formal ceremony, as Sergeant at Arms, PP Rtn. Ajay Gupta, collared President Rtn. Vijay Kumar Dhall, followed by the National Anthem and the recitation of Rotary’s Four-Way Test. The meeting was graciously conducted by PAG Rtn. Mahesh Arora, who welcomed all members, distinguished guests, and visiting Rotarians, including PDG Rtn. Dr. Manmohan Singh, who delivered an inspiring keynote address.
In his presidential address, Rtn. Vijay Kumar Dhall proudly reflected on the club’s progress, noting the completion of 20 projects this year. He outlined future initiatives, such as the “Workshop on Career Guidance,” “E-Waste Management,” and the “Bird House” project, which received enthusiastic support from the audience.
PDG Rtn. Dr. Manmohan Singh, in his keynote address, emphasized the core Rotary principle of “Service Above Self” and highlighted the vital role new members play in Rotary’s growth. His presentation on the acronym “ROTARIAN,” particularly focusing on member retention, was well-received by the attendees.
The event also marked the formal induction of two new members, Rtn. Dr. Nitya Prakash and Rtn. Sandeep Kumar Sharma, bringing the total number of new members inducted this year to ten. The ceremony, led by PDG Rtn. Dr. Manmohan Singh, was met with applause as each new member was warmly welcomed with a garland.
The meeting also celebrated the birthday of Rtn. Dr. Jashwant Singh, with a special cake-cutting ceremony and a garland presentation by PDG Rtn. Dr. Manmohan Singh.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Secretary Rtn. Amrik Singh Vraich, followed by a gala dinner that allowed Rotarians from various clubs to network and celebrate the success of the evening.
