NEET UG 2024 Counselling: MCC Adds 614 New Seats for Round 2

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced an addition of 614 seats for the second round of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 counselling. Updated information regarding these new medical seats is now available on the official MCC website — mcc.nic.in/ug-medical-counselling.

In this latest development, seven seats have been added across five medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, seven more in four medical colleges in Maharashtra, and a substantial 600 seats in eight medical colleges in Telangana. Notably, while the seats in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra are open to all genders, 50% of the seats in Telangana are reserved exclusively for female candidates.

NEET UG Review Petition Filed in Supreme Court
In parallel, students have filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the verdict from August 2.

Virtual Vacancies for MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing Admissions
Additionally, MCC has notified a total of 6,947 virtual vacancies for MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing admissions in round 2. These virtual seats are spread across multiple states and union territories, including West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab, Puducherry, Odisha, and many others.

Four New Universities Added to Seat Matrix
On September 7, MCC announced that four institutions have been granted “Deemed to be University” status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Following the Supreme Court’s direction in W.P. (C) No. 267/2017 (Dar-Us-Slam Educational Trust vs. Medical Council of India), the seats in these institutions will now be included in the seat matrix for Round 2 counselling, benefiting a wider pool of candidates.

The newly added medical colleges are:

  • Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad (200 seats)
  • Malla Reddy Medical College for Women, Hyderabad (200 seats)
  • Malla Reddy Institute of Dental Sciences, Hyderabad (100 seats)
  • Malla Reddy Dental College for Women, Hyderabad (100 seats)
