The United Nations has warned that humanitarian conditions in conflict-hit regions such as Gaza and Ukraine are deteriorating rapidly, with civilians bearing the brunt of ongoing hostilities.
According to UN agencies, thousands of civilians have been killed or injured, while critical infrastructure including hospitals, schools, and water facilities has been damaged or destroyed. Aid organisations report severe shortages of food, medicine, and shelter.
In Gaza, restrictions on aid access and continued hostilities have hampered relief operations. In Ukraine, sustained fighting has led to large-scale displacement, with millions seeking refuge within the country or across borders.
The UN Secretary-General has renewed calls for immediate ceasefires, protection of civilians, and unimpeded humanitarian access. However, diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflicts have so far yielded limited results.
International agencies warn that prolonged conflict could have generational consequences, particularly for children deprived of education and basic healthcare.
