Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of peace with neighboring countries, stating that progress and peace are “intertwined.” Speaking at the Defence and Martyrs Day event, Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s desire for peaceful relations while maintaining the nation’s freedom and independence.

“Pakistan has no intention of aggression against any country and has played a role in promoting peace and stability in the region,” Sharif said, adding, “Peace is our first priority, as it is essential for progress.”

The event was attended by senior military officials, including Army Chief General Asim Munir, who cautioned against allowing political differences to escalate into hatred. He highlighted the strong bond between the military and the people, emphasizing that this unity would help defeat any attempts to create division.

General Munir also addressed the Kashmir issue, calling it not only a national matter but one of regional and global importance.

In a separate message, President Asif Ali Zardari honored the sacrifices of soldiers and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty. He praised the Armed Forces for their readiness to respond to any threats.

On the same day, the Pakistan Navy inducted two newly built warships, PNS Babur and PNS Hunain, into its fleet. At the induction ceremony in Karachi, Zardari highlighted the significance of the new vessels in strengthening Pakistan’s maritime security.
