‘The Current War’ Film Trailer Promises An Epic Battle For Power Between Edison & Tesla

The trailer of the Martin Scorcese-produced thriller, ‘The Current War’ is out now.

We see Benedict as the legendary inventor Thomas Alva Edison, attempting to use his DC technology to bring light to Manhattan, following which he faces competition in Nikola Tesla, played by Nicholas Hoult, who poses as a rival with his own AC electrical current.

Edison’s attempts at making history are repeatedly blocked by businessman George Westinghouse, played by Michael Shannon, who is also Tesla’s partner and has his own plans of making history.

This sparks one of the most dramatic corporate battles in the history of America, which then came on to be known as the “war of the currents”.

“This is a battle of one of the greatest minds of America,” Edison says, however, Westinghouse believes that, “if you want to be remembered, it’s simple: Shoot a president. But if you prefer to have what I call a legacy, you leave the world a better place than you found it.” Clearly indicating that the two sides have no intention of backing down in this electrifying battle of power.

Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon with Producer Timur Bekmambetov, Basil Iwanyk and Executive Producer Martin Scorsese, ‘The Current War’ stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Katherine Waterston, Tom Holland, Matthew Macfadyen and Tuppence Middleton. The movie will now be distributed by 101 Studios on October 4, 2019.
