Stree 2 Breaks Box Office Records, Becomes 5th Highest-Grossing Hindi Film of All Time
Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, has been breaking box office records since its release. The film has now surpassed Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, becoming the 5th highest-grossing Hindi movie of all time.
In its first two weeks, Stree 2 earned ₹433.05 crore, and during its third week, it added another ₹70.2 crore. Thursday’s collections alone brought in ₹5.35 crore, bringing the total to ₹503.25 crore, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.
With this, Stree 2 has entered the ₹500 crore club and surpassed the lifetime Hindi earnings of Animal, which collected ₹502.98 crore. However, Animal’s total collection remains ₹553.87 crore due to its strong performance in Tamil and Telugu, making it the 6th highest-grossing film in Indian cinema.
This week also saw Stree 2 break another record, surpassing Baahubali 2 in third-week collections for a Hindi film. Stree 2 earned ₹70.2 crore in its third week, beating SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, which had previously held the record with ₹69.75 crore.
The film also features Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Pankaj Tripathi, with cameo appearances from Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The filmmakers are reportedly considering a spin-off centered on Shraddha Kapoor’s character to delve into the backstory of Stree. The movie is part of Dinesh Vijan’s expanding Horror-Comedy universe, which includes Bhediya and Munjya, with upcoming additions like a vampire-themed film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar.
