Rotary Club Chandigarh Horizon Chartered Amidst Grandeur and Spirit of Service

Chandigarh, June 20, 2026: A new chapter in Rotary service began with the formal Charter Ceremony of Rotary Club Chandigarh Horizon, held at Hotel Rajshree, Chandigarh, in the gracious presence of distinguished Rotarians, community leaders, family members and guests.

The ceremony marked the official induction of Rotary Club Chandigarh Horizon into Rotary International District 3080 and celebrated the beginning of a journey dedicated to the ideals of Service Above Self.

The event was graced by District Governor Nominee Rtn. Mohinder Paul Gupta as the Chief Guest and Assistant Governor Rtn. Krishan Kumar Walia as the Guest of Honour. Senior Rotarian and Chief Mentor PP Rtn. Vijay Kumar Dhall guided the proceedings as Sergeant-at-Arms.

The evening commenced with the National Anthem and the recitation of Rotary’s Four-Way Test, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolizing the triumph of knowledge and service.

In his welcome address, PP Rtn. Vijay Kumar Dhall emphasized the importance of fellowship, ethical leadership and meaningful service. Formal introductions of the dignitaries were presented by Rtn. Dr. Nitya Prakash, who also served as the Master of Ceremony for the occasion.

A defining moment of the evening was the Official Charter Presentation and Installation of Club Leadership, conducted by District Governor Nominee Rtn. Mohinder Paul Gupta. This was followed by the ceremonial pinning of charter members and the transition and alignment ceremony.

Presenting the club’s vision and roadmap, Charter President Rtn. Avinash Taneja outlined Team Horizon’s commitment to impactful initiatives in leadership, youth development, artificial intelligence, wellness, fellowship and community service.

Addressing the gathering, Assistant Governor Rtn. Krishan Kumar Walia congratulated the newly chartered club and expressed confidence that Team Horizon would emerge as a vibrant force in District 3080.

Blessing the newly chartered club, Chief Guest District Governor Nominee Rtn. Mohinder Paul Gupta remarked:

“Leadership is not defined by positions but by purpose. Rotary Club Chandigarh Horizon has begun its journey with enthusiasm, vision and commitment. I am certain that this club will emerge as one of the most vibrant and service-oriented clubs of District 3080 and will continue to illuminate lives through compassion and selfless service.”

Chief Mentor and Sergeant-at-Arms PP Rtn. Vijay Kumar Dhall said:

“Rotary Club Chandigarh Horizon is not merely a new club; it is a family united by values, fellowship and a shared commitment to service. I am confident that Team Horizon will leave a lasting impact in District 3080 and beyond. Together, we shall transform ideas into meaningful action and uphold Rotary’s timeless spirit of Service Above Self.”

Speaking on the occasion, Charter President Rtn. Avinash Taneja said:

“Rotary Club Chandigarh Horizon has been founded with a vision to unite people of action and create meaningful impact through service, fellowship and innovation. Together, we aspire to build a brighter and more compassionate future.”

Master of Ceremony and President-Elect (2027-28), Rtn. Dr. Nitya Prakash, remarked:

“Today is not merely the birth of a new Rotary club; it is the beginning of a shared commitment to serve humanity with purpose and integrity. Team Horizon shall strive to live by Rotary’s timeless motto—Service Above Self.”

Expressions of gratitude and mementoes were presented to the dignitaries, followed by a Vote of Thanks proposed by Rtn. Raj Pal Midha.

The celebrations concluded with a commemorative group photograph, cake-cutting ceremony and fellowship over high tea, reflecting the spirit of friendship and camaraderie that lies at the heart of Rotary.

The evening ended with a renewed pledge by all members to work together in strengthening communities and advancing Rotary’s mission of creating hope and goodwill.
